Okay guys. I know I haven’t really been keeping my blog updated like I promised I would. It’s not you, it’s me. I know, I’m clearly not good enough for you, and all the wonderful readers I have, (I do by the way – don’t think I’m BSing you, becaues I wouldn’t do that. I love you all too much).
Anyway, the real reason is that I had such a mental block in Egypt. Fortunately I took very good mental notes, so I can report in the very near future. I also took some reasonable pictures. It was quite difficult though. I wanted to capture people going about their daily business, but I got the feeling that if I tried to take a picture from close up, they would just want to smile. And sometimes, that’s not what I’m looking for.
That’s an interesting thing though. In National Geograpic last month (there was a thing on Ancient Egypt which I thought my dad would like) there was a photo-article on modern-day slavery. I won’t go into the details of the article. But the pictures were incredible. There was one in particular, where the photographer was clearly very close up, but the photo didn’t look posed. Here’s my question.
- Did the photographer ask their permission to be photographed?
- Was the photo posed?
Am I stupid for asking these questions? I hope not. But if anyone knows the answers, I’d love it if you could let me know. Because I want to take some pictures like that!
I’ll scan the picture next time!
